October Surprises

I'll confess to being focused elsewhere than gaming as the US elections loom and wildfires are displacing so many in my part of the US.
Wanted to post and say that I'm grateful for this online place to leave some of the idiocy behind for a fresh type of insanity
Am I the only person who wonders about what might be going on, if the next alpha is delayed a week or so (which wouldn't be unprecedented...) into November? The first week of November will be pivotal in the US - however a person's politics spin.
Alternate Futures while gaming... discuss....

Maybe they should just cut the year short. 2020 has been bad enough already.
-
@Psymantis Agreed, roll on 2021, I'm ready to move on ...... and it brings the Beta closer
-
2020 has been pretty bad. I wouldn't mind just sacrificing the rest of it, but I fear what 2021 may hold...

The enemy you know is better than the one you don't.
-
@Ostaff I cannot argue with that
-
So many folks just hanging on by a fingernail, waiting for the worst to pass. I wish I could believe that it will, but tbh what I see coming is bloody, whoever wins this 'election' thingee.
-
In regards to the political state of the US.. .I think we are screwed no matter which party gets elected. I think I would like a Richard Pryor version of voting....
"VOTE NONE OF THE ABOVE!!!"
in regards to that last statement.. I would now hereby like to nominate a new presidential candidate... my dog Toby!
-
I have said, the last couple election seasons that even though he's dead now (and has been since 2008), I nominate:
George Carlin for President.
During debates and everything, you could just play snippets of his old acts in rebuttal.
"So, Candidate Carlin, what do you think about the State of the Middle East?"
Carlin Recording: "F*ck'em!"
-
@Ostaff Puppy or crossbreed?
-
Crossbreed... he's a BORGI I!!!
-
@Ostaff A Labrador and a Corgi cross would have been my guess but I've never seen them crossed before. Beautiful dog.
-
That's a smart doggie - no doubt in my mind. Those eyes! Lights on, somebody's home.
-
@Psymantis My boyfriend and I have batted around this idea, however I made the point that if we called 2020 early on account of lack of interest or hoping for better - 2020 will bleed into the "new" 2021, and there's no promise that just because we run around acting like it's 2021, it's going to be any better.
I don't want to pull a Chandler and ask if this year could be any worse - but, really, could it?
-
And there we go....it has been done...the words have been asked. The floor drops, as life teachs us... that "Yes, Virginia, it can get worse".
-
@Ostaff Oh, I know.....it is very likely it's going to get worse. And I'm just going to sit here in my living room, waiting patiently and hoping for the best.

RIP RBG
Yesterday at sundown was the beginning of the Jewish New Year celebration. According to a reliable source, there is a mishnah (interpretation of Torah) that says dying on the eve of the new year is God's highest complement for a life well lived. I'm gonna say AMEN to that from my place in the Episcopalian pews.
