You can build a class, and its my guess you will find that picking a particular class and building to it will most likely bear the most fruit. Necromancers with awesome bow skills might not find the most groups when fighting top tier bosses. You will bet that there will be a few skill combos that work better than others, where you can make a paladin a fighter and a tank. Likewise you will have elementalists and necromancers, rouges and rangers. Full freedom is more of a interesting possibility but I have yet to see a good example of a true odd duck that leads the pack.
I am a pretty big backer both financially and with enthusiasm, met Chris Roberts and got a ton of stuff signed. Super cool project and its actually going along quite well for being a ground up production with this level of ambition. Lots of people think that lots of money = done tomorrow.... how nice would that be. Sadly games take time and big ones take even longer. Star Citizen is interesting as it attempts to give its backers a game as its being made. Not at all practical and it might be adding time to its development as programming time is being used to polish parts of a game that will not be part of the final game.
Its a fairly popular game to bash, primarily from trolls that like to elicit reactions from the enthusiastic fan base and the drones that basically do not have a educated opinion but think that the dramatic headlines and hardcore trolls represent the truth. The fact of the matter is Star Citizen is the most open developed game out there. I doubt any game will follow in Star Citizens footsteps for the simple truth that most people (backers) do not possess the patience or the understanding to follow such an undertaking from conception. There is a reason most games do not get announced until they are a year from release.
For the people calling it a scam.... I simply have nothing nice to say to you. It is abundantly obvious that you either have no working knowledge of the word scam or you have no idea what Star Citizen is. Either way its a instant ignore, I have no use at all for you.
Take a breather! Have a few beers and sleep in a couple days!
@specter said in Secret items that only Few or Several can be created of be found:
@memokal Fractured won't have restricted items like that.
That is exactly what I would say if I was making a game that had items like that......
Thanks to everyone who pledged!
Points? You can earn points? I like points! I will get these points and rise to the near top I tell you Ha haaa hahahahaha haaaaa!
I think the very first cash stretch goal at 110k is definitely going to be reached, the 1k backers is also going to be reached. It should be noted that the Early Bird prices will not carry over..... so if you are looking at one of the packages that has one now would be the time to pull the trigger.... it will cost more latter!
Congrats! Great campaign, good to see the community stepping up and getting the word out! Looking forward now to helping the game develop with some good ol' alpha testing. raises glass
Cheers!
Never had a doubt, but this day has been earned none the less. Thanks everyone who helped push and share the game to the masses. Nothing like a great community to overcome adversity and make a difference! Now its all up to Dynamight to deliver what they promised! No doubts there either! Cheers! \0/

I am going to guess in the next 24 hrs we will see the funding hit its goal. Why stop there though! Lets rip open a couple stretch goals! That last 48 hrs can be quite magical!
Well damn... looks around for someone to blame

Just a FYI - a democracy without loopholes and bound by laws is not a democracy.... its a Republic. I am all for republics!
Kickstarter is fickle. I have seen some amazing looking games scrape by and some simply horrible looking games make way more than they should. I am pretty confident that Fractured will make it. As more of the game is made and they have the web store up they should do even more. One thing of note.... a game called Ashes of Creation had an extremely vocal group that wanted to back after the kickstarter, claiming to be in the thousands of people that are unable to back games with kickstarter. So confident was Ashes of Creations creators that they would smash all the stretch goals they made for the second sale they also made the community get upset by offering up kickstarer "exclusives" for one month after the kickstarter. They had almost no one join up and not one stretch goal was hit. They "gave" everyone one of the stretch goals that they had talked up. Moral of the story is... do not expect a surge after the kickstarter.
I am kinda shocked to see that a game where crafting, resource gathering, and hunting is a staple that fishing... one of the more relaxing and fun options, was left out to have its fate decided in a late stretch goal. It kinda makes me sad.
Good call on lowering the entry for the first stretch goal, lets plan on getting a couple of these knocked out!
There is no doubt that the final days will see a surge well enough to cover the remaining gap, I am sad that the stretch goals were never brought out. Oh well.
..I have been left to ponder the upgradeability of the Knight EB.... such value in that package. For me it just seems that its the perfect price for helping make the game get made.... and..... here is your reward. Yet I can see the value in the higher 1k+ packages also, just need to find a nice little economy boost to get it, but given the time left...
