@Specter Hi Specter - I finished a plain 4x4 yesterday - no patio - and couldn't place my fireplace inside. Could be that exiting and re-entering will help but wanted to put this here just in case.

Re: Freezing after loading world with No UI. I am having the same problem with and addition that sometimes I respawn in the floor of my house so can't move. I also respawn in the floor of my house almost every time I day and get sent back to my house which means relogging and going through the 2-3 attempted logins.
