@Gothix Using shield also makes you easy to be feinted, as you have no view But this wouldn´t be doable in arpg...so just please give shields some way to counter them ... something like cooldown, so you cant throw dots on enemy and then just block till your spells are off cd or enemy is dead.

RE: Magic resistance?
@PeachMcD Yes, this debate is no longer neccessary...but it´s fun :D.
It´s different universe, probably with laws of physics not same as on our planet and they even have magic, so anything devs say is right imo

RE: Attacks speeds depending on armor ?
@Jetah to caster armour: if you´re referring to chain mail, then there would be no difference in weight, as full chain mail from Romanic age weights as much as full plate armour
Maybe some kind of "Mithril armor" would be caster friendly as its light, or elven chain mail (Icewind dale). If material is iron / steel, it would still weight 15-25kg for full body armour. Who knows, maybe some rare material enables it, but then it would have to have some serious disadvantages due to balance. But im glad you can tell mage / warrior on first sight, because as there are no classes and everyone can use anything, you never know what opponent will do. And "Clerics" aka support guys in heavy armor will be doable in Fractured too.
Disarm - you mean spells or abilities? Disarm is imo fine, as long as its just disability to do regular attacks and abilities dependant on weapon...and if you dont have to manually pick up your axe from the ground
...and just got question about passives on weapons - will slow 2h weapons (0,8 attack/s) have same chance to stun like fast 1h weapons (twice fast attack speed)? If so, wouldn´t crit damage 2h (probably axe) be best choice? And it was told that CC depends on luck...will passive stun on weapon proc more often with high luck? Or does it affect min/max dmg of weapon (more 75s than 45s if weapon is 45-75 dmg). Im sorry if these questions were already answered.

RE: Attacks speeds depending on armor ?
@Farlander Thats nice, but i hope you can´t ask your enemy to stop fighting for 10 minutes to regen some mana
The way it´s planned by devs is imo right.

RE: Magic resistance?
@Yitra But burns from campfire and from Fireball are still the same

RE: How should shields work? WoW vs. Vermintide style
@Znirf But you could not block aoe and dot attacks, right?

RE: Attacks speeds depending on armor ?
@Jetah Allright, but what would you suggest for casters in plate? On my mind comes reducing their damage, making them cast spells only once a few seconds (so they couldnt nuke you with X nukes in two seconds), make mana costs for them so huge they would have to sip blue bottle every three spells etc., but would they still enjoy it, if the heavy armor was actually worn only for cosmetic purposes? I wouldn´t. With max INT i would rather do what mages do - magical protection, debuffs on enemy damage and CC so enemy doesn´t even reach me.
Or simply reduce mage´s damage if wearing plate so they´re balanced on DMG-----DEFENCE scale. But imo with low dmg they will lose purpose.

RE: Magic resistance?
@Jetah It doesn´t, but it´s magic, so it doesn´t have to make sense, right ?
-
RE: Magic resistance?
@Jetah Either by wearing thick fur you get resist to cold, or it´s not logical until "cold resist" becomes "magic cold resist", because magic damage is separate as we now know and therefore cold damage is the same no matter the source (caster / weather). But now we just play with words
, my question was rather whether elemental damage is kind of magical damage - it´s not.

RE: Attacks speeds depending on armor ?
@Jetah From my understanding "melee type mages" are viable - as long as the damage they deal is melee
- Paladins like fighter/cleric multiclass or Paladin from ADaD are (as devs stated) 100% viable - restoration skills will be castable, probably also buffs, so no problem there; not sure about Abjuration spells to make propper bubble boy
- Death knight - not so sure here, we don´t know about non-damaging debuffs, summoning spells and weapon enchanting ones
Lets hope most of non damaging spells will be viable for all armours, even if with some downsides; it would be nice, if each school had some spells that 1) would depend on melee atriibutes, 2) were not considered "spells" and were castable by everyone. If from 14 schools only 2 are melee (and one barehanded), it would be weird if warriors could use only such a tiny fraction of abilities, so i don´t worry

RE: Favourite skill from moba / rpg / arpg (you would like to appear in Fracture
@Jairone well, we have seen "teleport" ability used py player, so maybe
-
RE: Magic resistance?
@Gothix Well these massive resists sure make it obvious, but game is in alpha.
..allright, maybe it was stupid question :D, but i still look at game mechanics like it takes something from ADaD, so I had to be sure. If nothing more, case is closed :). Thanks devs for clarifycation. -
RE: Magic resistance?
@Jetah I was thinking exactly the same.
For example Bear-kin with already thick fur puts on fur coat - ready to sleep in the blizzard with comfort. Would some momentary cold damage him? Even people use Cryotherapy = -100°C for 2-4 mins without clothes. What monstrous sub zero temperature would it have to be to freeze a bear with winter clothes onEven absolute zero (−273.15°) wouldn´t do much to him if it only lasted a second. But i know, "it´s magic"
But check this, imo stone i throw at somebody would hurt him same was as stone summoned from another place via magic and both should be resisted with physical resist. Whats different with fire/freeze/whatever as Mr. Jetah says?

RE: Attacks speeds depending on armor ?
@Jetah It´s a simulation of fantasy fight in fantasy world, so imo whatever devs put into game is correct, as long as it´s balanced because it´s PvP
-
RE: Favourite skill from moba / rpg / arpg (you would like to appear in Fracture
@Jairone Wasn´t this skill also in an old arpg NOX as one of wizard´s spell? But sure would be nice, not sure however how much use it would have on such a huge game map (and also patience, as it´s a trap)

RE: How should shields work? WoW vs. Vermintide style
@Jetah depends on type of shield; you can´t sprint for long however, maybe like 5-10 sec before youre exhausted
blocking only front - hope so
but then let shield euser block most attacks
melee block sucks agains arrows - agreed
-
RE: Magic resistance?
@Jetah I understand it that with high intelligence "youre smart so much you understand how to magically protect against other magic".
And it´s for balance purposes so magic guys deal more dmg to armored guys and vice versa (because otherwise glass canon vs glass canon could be one hit / one sequence of high dmg nukes figh)Its fantasy game after all.
Question was rather ment like "will magic resistance affect CC leght for example (frocentually - aka 3s stun against 50% magic res would stun for 1,5s)? And yes, i know STR will be defence against stun, just an example.
-
RE: How should shields work? WoW vs. Vermintide style
@Jetah well maybe, but you wouldnt be too mobile and you should block only front attacks; and blocking with 2h weapons? Quite doable as weapon weights 1/3 of shield and you hold it with both hands
...but let´s just leave that to shield

RE: Favourite skill from moba / rpg / arpg (you would like to appear in Fracture
@Xzoviac yep, ragdoll mechanic is fine, one feels like a badass
in GRIM DAWN on lower difficulties you killed everything on one hit and bodies would just fly away
;, on the other had it looked really weird, when you were punching something for 10 seconds with no effect until it died and then you smashed him over whole room like the monster weighted nothing.
If you hit something wih 30lb hammer and he dies, its weird if he just lays down due to heart attack, at least knocking him back would be fine.

RE: Mazdak here
Im quite certain Steam release is planned once the game is polished / finished. Until that try to check gameplay videos after each bigger content update (closest one is in 11 days - another alpha) to see whether the game goes the direction you like
