Idea for the Game: Player Beacons

Isometric perspective certainly has it's advantages, but, imho, it's always better to design the game with less stress on the server, than with more stress.
Some limitations have to apply. You never know how popular your game might be, and how many players will come play.
2 million stands or beacons would break the game in any perspective. So devs have to consider everything and not just assume things.

sometimes they use minimum hardware so they have a place to start.

Not at all, that's why I was raising the point. There is a fixed maximum of entities that can be rendered at any given point in time in an isometric viewport (determined through the amount of 'tiles'). On the server side, SpatialOS is capable of scaling through subdividing.

the biggest issue with shops that are sat in server instead of NPC is that if the server has channels you could be in the right place the right time but the wrong channel and miss what you want, if you have to search 100+ channels and shops could be anywhere, things could get tricky for sellers and buyers
