I think they would like to know your specs, especially the graphicscard to know if this is related to older graphic card or if some new issue.

Windows 8.1 64bit
nVidia Geforce RTX 2060
Driver version: 471.11

it could be Windows 8 holding you back, @Leonmitchelli
I know a lot of newer games don't want to run on 8 at all, because even if you have a lot of ram, 8 is a Memory hog
-
@GamerSeuss I think you completely wrong.
For long time using it - I found only one game that had exactly issue with Win 8.1 - and it is issue with sound only (it plays completely mute).
-
@Leonmitchelli you're free to have your opinion.
All I can say is, you've got a decent graphics card, I'm using the 2070, only slightly better and mine is just fine. Just having worked tech support for so long, I've found Windows 8.x to have issues with a lot of programs because of being a memory hog. You didn't mention how much RAM you had, though, so who knows. Could just be a rendering error from something else. Try repairing your installation

I have the same issue on my older PC when I try to use the map interface. Same screen. Using W10 on a hand-me-down PC
-
There are known issues with the map using some older graphic cards. Maybe this report from you on a newer one can help to narrow down the issue some more, unless it is some separate issue that gives same problem as my Nvidia Geforce GTX 770.
-
@Mudz - Neither of the PCs I use to play have a dedicated gfx card. Both use the Intel driver that came w the computer. That said, this is the first test where I've had any problems w the map interface.

I wonder whether that might help? Can it hurt to try? Asking before I do this....

Updated drivers through 'clean install' to version 272.12. It did nothing. Map still not works.

-
Make sure your on the latest version of the video driver for your card.
-
@Leonmitchelli The current version of nvidia drivers is 537.42, it looks like you should update to a more recent OS version...
is your RTX 2070 even supported by 272.12 ?!
