Crafting Question

Is there a reason why a person with a house outside city limits cannot craft a pair of plate gauntlets with tin? I can't figure out why I cannot craft it. No message tells me one way or another why I cannot craft.

You can only craft Tier 2 or higher materials with Craftmanship unlocked in the City's Tech tree...and that works only within the city, not in the residential area. Residential plots can only craft Tier 1 items, in other words, no metal period. You can refine it, but not craft it.

Ack. Hmmm. Wonder what the thought process was on this. I understand the tech tree, but not allowing rural areas the same options as urban folks doesn't make much sense to me.

Incentive to go to the huge effort and work of making and maintaining a city.
Incentive for players to work together for something greater that benefits all who join in.

I just crafted a steel (tier 4 ingot) long sword and chain mail outside the city limits, they have Tier 3 weapon damage and Tier 3 Fortitude. I can't make sense of this.

It is the greatness of the individual that makes a city great. It is why communism and socialism fails miserably, everywhere, every time. Why have a system of taxation in this game, if people want to make a city for the greater good? Answer: Because it is self interest that gives the greatest incentive to succeed and create wealth for the individual. It is a free market system of trade, equal opportunity to build and create rather than outcome based end.
What type of government systems are in this game? I have seen Authoritarian, any other form of government?
