Pre-alpha Key, question.

So I was just wondering if I already have the key and just need to wait until the pre-alpha to get the actual key? Or is it a random group of people get chosen and THEY get the pre-alpha key?

rng but if they need 500 pre-alpha testers then they'll give that many keys. if they just need 25 testers then that many will get it. don't expect pre-alpha keys till the end of the year or next year.

We don't know exactly how many testers they'll need, but it'll be over 100 and less than 1000. Keep checking the leaderboard, a higher rank means a better chance to get into the pre-alpha. If you get into the top 100, it's almost guaranteed you'll get in.
Weekly drawing winners are more likely to receive a key as well.

Also you can only get 1 pre-alpha access. If you're get from being top in Leaderboard then you cannot get another from winning weekly drawing lottery.

Players who have won one or more drawings, disregarding whether they are in the TOP X or not. The more you’ve won, the more likely it is, but even one is enough to have chance!
The more you win, the more likely it is you'll get a key. It's not guaranteed. (Source here)

I'm going to say they'll allow however many they need. If it's 25 or 50k. Pre-alpha could have stages where 25 per stage are added.

@jetah while I'm sure testing for bugs will be important in pre-alpha I wonder if that will be main reason for letting us join and see that game before it's ready

depends on how good those testers are. If DS has testing focus or if it's just a "play and let us know if you've found a bug" thing.

did all the dailies and quest on the forums. they were giving more points for just creating an account at the beginning. recruiting is also very good for getting xp. outside of winning the contest.
