@Orison The stuff in your house can´t be stolen.
I don´t think people can destroy your house, but with time it will decay, so if you don´t maintain it it can get destroyed.If you have your house in a town the governor can decide to kick you out, which will leave you with, currently I think it is 1 day, some time to take ur stuff and put it elsewhere. Your house will be lost though.

It'd be way to straining if everything was a free-for-all all the time and would mean you have to stick in the vicinity of your house to defend it since there's no quick travel option.
Placing some limitations on what/when/where (you) can be raided is a good idea.
