Also consider how people will lose Karma just because they kill another Good aligned one by accident during a massive clash because they just walk by when an offensive spell is fired or a bunch of arrows are flying around.
This....
Perhaps enabling friendly fire even on Arboreus might be the solution. If its enabled BUT good players have FF disabled vs good knocked out opponents... No accidentally killing, no accidental karma change, for large PvP battles still seems fair, still good vs good griefing but nothings perfect...
Simply disable good vs knocked out/unconscious good friendly fire.

Let abusing happen, and the game dies really fast.
This is the main issue when it comes to game balance. I don't envy developers, they are trying to appeal to all audiences, from hardcore PVPers to only PVEers. Its the gray area between the two thats covered in sticky juice. As a semi-hardcore PVPer, good is becoming much more attractive from a PVP stand point.
If dodging and mobility are apart of this arpg, then AoE is extremely important. If it were tab targeted or tab locked, then it might not be such a big deal but in fractured (in theory) it seems like the system maybe broken. By allowing ranged good characters to shoot away without fear of harming allies is huge, especially in mass/world PvP. It limits evil in all sorts of ways and makes them implement strategies not required by good characters. Rules seem as though they should be planets aligned.
Arboreus should be no FF for all alignments
Syndesia and Tartaros should be FF for all alignmentsAlthough at this point I plan on playing human (until Alpha begins), I still want a fair and balanced game where there is an equal distribution of players. Currently I see everyone, including demons on Arboreus for end game. We do not want demons, human or beastmen... good, neutral of evil to have a advantage or disadvantage...
If an inequality exist, over time, people will migrate to the advantage... its human nature (no pun intended). If we want fractured to last and be successful all alignments should be equal. Perhaps no FF for any alignment or FF for all alignment? Equality is balance.
Oh and player can still accidentally knock other players out without a change in karma... this is known as a oppsie.
If you loot and/or said target then you have committed an evil act. So if FF was enabled for good, you could still hurt other good players or even party members as in the video in the beginning of this thread. That does not affect your karma or alignment. So if someone jumps in front of you intentionally, they are simply being dumb. They cant trick you into being a thief or a killer, that would be your choice. Your alignment is not affected by FF. But killing and stealing definitely will.

Guild horse armor skins might work also....

RE: Friendly Fire
@gothix +1
In a somewhat open PvP environment that does feel like a big imbalance.

RE: Unlocking human (rather Syndesia) technology
@target You are correct, my apologies. I forgot beastmen do have to unlock their transformation. I'm uncertain if it has to be done on their home world... time to research. But from a balance standpoint is does mean 2 races have an unlock. thank you
Only humans can benefit from technology.
However, even if the beastmen have to unlock on their homeworld, its still maybe an individual effort, such as a spirit walk. But humans are not only tied to the planet, they have to have an advanced city. So I can't just pop back to Syndesia perform some individual tasks and I have the new technology. If technology evolves at a rapid pace, it only makes sense to remain in Syndesia. I understand that I can chose never to return or chose to simply go without technology, but my concern was from a balance stand point.
Seems like every human will be 1. Good and 2. On Syndesia.
The pros outweigh the cons.

Unlocking human (rather Syndesia) technology
More of a balance question...
Each race can change its home world, some by changing alignment others electing to change to an advanced race. However, humans seem tied to Syndesia.
Once someone decides to change their home world, they no longer suffer from debuffs but humans will suffer from a lack of technology. If one of the main benefits of being human is technology and technology can only be unlocked on Syndesia, this seems like a balance issue. Yes, I understand that I can purchase implants or perhaps visit a human city to learn technology but no other race is tethered to their home world. Not speaking of town defenses rather implants or other individual technology. It makes sense to have town technologies tied to the growth and development of that specific town.
It requires a high level city on Syndesia to unlock Human tech. It's not there from day 1.
Since other races don't benefit from technology it seems highly unlikely I could unlock human tech while being part of a high level Tartaros or Arboreus town. And since other races cannot use Human technology what's the harm in allowing Humans to unlock it in off world cities...
If a player human and focused on advancement then there is no other home than Syndesia. Personally, I wouldn't sell tech to someone in order for them to use it against me... That is, if its even tradeable or teachable.
I was considering rolling an off-world human. Once again, I feel like I must be missing something.... Every other race that changes worlds is 100% and can still play and survive solo. More than likely thrive in a community, cept for humans? O.o

Friendly Fire
So thanks to the community i now understand good aligned characters cannot hurt good aligned characters. So, is there friendly fire on Arboreus? Does one need to switch to neutral or evil to enable friendly fire?
So in the linked video we see Pro(metheus) hurting his friend with friendly fire. Pro actually hurts him several times in the video. Now, I am taking facts not in evidence (assumptions). I'm assuming they are in the same party if not even the same guild, yet they still have friendly fire which is a great game mechanic. However, while theory crafting my healer, it occurred to me that I cannot AOE heal in large PvP conflicts, because I would heal my enemy.
If neutral and evil aligned characters can attack each other at any time, how are these massive raids during eclipses take place? Only good characters can AOE DPS and AOE Heal? They cant hurt one another so no worries of friendly fire. And again, fact not in evidence, I'm assuming a good character would never heal an evil one... So AOE Healing should be fine also.
Just trying to get a firm grasps on the benefits and limitations of each alignment before choosing.
EDIT: and even if there is an alliance flag or party flag which prevents friendly fire... When demons raid during the eclipse you would think they are part of various guilds. So friendly fire would still take place on a large scale. However, good guilds once again would be unable to harm each other with friendly fire and in theory function as a much larger entity, while remaining in separate guilds.

RE: Good Guild Vs Good Guild PvP?
@jetah much appreciated.
That helps me to reconcile the concepts of GvG and Karma. Good in fractured does not mean just or virtuous, it means "I choose PvP under certain conditions". Neutral means "I choose to PvP under a larger variety of conditions" and not indifferent. Evil means"I choose to PvP under any condition".
I was thinking of Good from more of a role playing aspect (which of course was my first problem). Damn labels. Cause in my mind its very possible to have a good (non-fractured mmo definition) demon guild. Good as in defined by their actions not by their label.
"light bulb". Thx bro.
