I think it's good, it incentivizes things such as mercenaries and protection guilds and the like.

RE: Lets Talk Stretch Goals
I really hope we still get good character customization. Bit of a shame to lock that behind 140,000 euros.

RE: the half way races
@jairone I think that'd be an interesting way to play. You'd have to carefully plan out your actions in order not to be too evil or too good.
-
RE: the half way races
@jairone It wouldn't really be justice, just something along those lines. The god would reward you for bringing criminals to justice while occasionnaly straying from the good path to be efficient. Say you want to take down a big baddie, the god would be fine if you stole a sword or lied your way through that. This would translate in the god favoring neutral karma; you get good karma for bringing criminals to justice and bad karma from stealing and other evil-aligned actions.
-
RE: the half way races
Some neutral alignment benefits would be nice. Maybe have a god of justice or something? I could see it rewarding neutral behavior; punish people guilty of crimes by whatever means necessary. Stealing stuff and other morally reprehensible acts would be accepted as long as they contribute to bringing criminals to justice.

RE: [Discussion] Ingame currency system, what we want to get?
@muker I think the best way to go about this is to leave it as free as possible. Endless Space 2's approach to trade is a pretty good one; the party makes an offer, drags whatever they want in their trade window and what they offer in exchange, be it currency or ressource, and the other party can accept, refuse, or make a counter-offer. NPCs would have affinities for different ressources (ex: an apothecary would highly value herbs) which would influence the likeliness of them accepting the offer.
I think the "regular" currency should be something like gold coins, but for the love of all that is holy PLEASE don't have a gold/silver/copper. Just one type of coin. Having copper silver and gold is unnecessary and can needlessly complexify trade. It works okay in WoW, but when you have a trade-centric game I think it would be very annoying to juggle with essentially three regular currencies instead of one. -
RE: Character building
I think 3 slots would be better from the get-go. That way you'd be able to try out each of the races.
I guess human and either of the other two would be a good way to start, as human kind of lets you figure out which alignment you like best and then you can choose whichever for your second character. Still, I think three slots would be better. -
RE: TOP 100 foundation
I hope they pick more players, I really want to get into the alpha but I'm afraid getting in the top 100 is going to be difficult... :c

RE: Character appearance
@Jetah Not talking about eye color, as I've said what would be cool for example would be to change your horns as a demon, that'd be pretty visible. The point is to make you own your character, feel connected to it in some way.
Then clearly you haven't played the game. For human males for example you have 14 facial hair presets, 5 face presets and 19 hair styles. -
RE: Character appearance
@Jetah As I've said it's not a waste, it plays a part in roleplay and the feeling that you're a unique element of the world, not just another bloke. I do agree that it uses up ressources, which is why I also advised that the customization should be fairly superficial, like in PoE, which does have customization beyond armor cosmetics; you have different face presets, hair styles and colors to match.
MOBAs don't have character cutomization besides preset skins because roleplay is not a key component of MOBAs. It is in MMORPGs though. -
RE: Background in mmo?
I've been trying to play Guild Wars 2, ArchAge and Black Desert Online, but got bored of those very quickly because of the grind and uninteresting gameplay for the two former and boring quests for the latter. The most fun I've had with MMOs was with less traditionnal ones like Warframe or Destiny.
I really like what the devs are going for with Fractured, reminds me of some of my favorite single player RPGs but with all the cool MMO stuff added onto it.
-
RE: Character appearance
@Jetah That's very true, but it doesn't mean there shouldn't be any customization at all, since, like you said, you're gonna see that character in the character select screen and possibly in other instances. For example, games like Pillars of Eternity (CRPG with a somewhat isometric view) still have some customization despite you pretty much never seeing that customization. It's rudimentary, but it's still a very nice touch and I think the role playing aspect would be greatly diminished without it.
@Gofrit Oh okay, so it does appear that you'll be able to choose your gender then, since they are just "sticking to one sex for the concept art [they] show for now", in Sunti's words. Thank you, that was very helpful.
I do hope there's more than colors though. Like have a choice between different horn styles for demons for example, that would be really cool.

Character appearance
Hey gang,
So I tried to figure out how this works but beyond all the cosmetic items I haven't really managed to find information about that.
How much character customization are we going to get aside from equipment? Can you choose your character's gender? Will we be able to choose certain facial features, body types, etc?
I think character customization is a very important part of any MMO. It helps with making you feel like you exist in the world and it makes you feel unique, something that's very important when you're going to be playing with a lot of other players. There's only so much you can do with body armor and the likes.
Thanks for your time!

RE: Abomination / Angel details?
@EvolGrinZ Well, from what I gathered it'd be fairly straightforward, raise or lower your karma to a certain level and then complete a quest.
-
RE: Abomination / Angel details?
Thanks for your replies, this all looks really cool. I hope the devs give us a feature spotlight on these transformations at some point, I'm excited to learn more

Abomination / Angel details?
Hey there,
I read up on the kickstarter page just today and I'm very interested in the project, I really like the direction it's headed in.
I was wondering how the "betrayals" function and what their benefits are; clearly it's to switch alignment, but do you think you could provide us with some more details on that? Does it have an effect on your stats as well?
Thanks for your time!
