RE: Progression / Learning system discussion
@GamerSeuss said in Progression / Learning system discussion:
i think the problem is how they worded the "no grinding" when in fact there will be a need to grind. i'd say it was meant as a "dont need to grind to increase your characters level" but to unlock spells/abilities, you need to repeatedly kill the same mob type. if you need leather for armor, you have to repeatedly kill mobs that can be skinned for leather, etc.
now if there were treasure maps then the ability/skill/knowledge system could be setup differently so that completing the map could reward the player. but then you're grinding maps.

RE: Treasure Maps
@GamerSeuss said in Treasure Maps:
Actually, the devs have been quite open about this goal, and a majority of those who joined/backed the game I think did so because they wanted to support this idea and ideal.
What didn't work in Destiny 2 might work here because the focus is completely different. They do not want to do ANY pay-to-win content, so all kinds of cosmetics and skins and such will be what you buy outside the game. If it keeps the pay-to-win completely away from the game, most will be more than satisfied with the results.
destiny 2 did the same shit. all the cosmetic were in boxes and they only dropped via a level or purchased. they changed that one big patch so that people would explore the game, and have a reason to play after raid/dungeon whatever was done. it was at a point where people just logged in for the weekly chance at a legendary. a source
i'm saying right now, and have in the past, that paid cosmetics gets old quick. they have to have a reason to keep playing when content drought or between invasions/sieges/whatever.
casuals and those without expendable income need a way to get cosmetics even if they aren't 'as good' as those in the shop. there should be some cosmetics that are only obtained via in game means.
@Farlander i fully expect the no-loot-drop from mobs to change after release. people will complain. they will get bored that "nothing interesting will drop so why farm". in even online the system that drops only crafting minerals was the least popular.
now if loot drops from Asteroids, then I'm sure it'll be a different story. and the loot doesn't have to be better than crafted. they could be base items that can be worn but can still be enhanced via a crafter (at least in theory).

RE: Treasure Maps
if all cosmetics drop from the store then people will bitch. see the beginning of Destiny 2 for that shit show. you need to have some in game means of obtaining cosmetics so people want to play and explore. People would love to find an Outfit of the Explorer which is only obtainable via exploration. all 3 fractured planets need to be explored (in whatever manor the devs see fit). treat it as the WoW equivalent of "What a Long Strange Trip It's Been" achievement.
small knowledge could be found within tomes within tombs. how do you find said tombs, treasure map! maybe the entrance is hidden to everyone outside of the group. the map can be stolen, thus the group also protects the map holder or they turn on them.

RE: Crafting Question
not hard to realize that solo people and even small groups wont have access to some recipes.

RE: Suggestion.. Add button (auto-run)
@OlivePit said in Suggestion.. Add button (auto-run):
I think that it could be done in that any attack action or ability casting would freeze the character in place but can understand that this might create compications for coding...
auto run isn't a mechanic to allow quick attacks. it's a Repetitive Strain Injury prevention mechanic.
i have no idea why you thought or even assumed auto run would be used to enable an attack while moving.

RE: Why are young status players allowed to kill legendaries?
@FibS
without dedicated pvp. the invasion will force a limited amount of pvp.unless it's been changed.
-
RE: Senatus Populesque
these games always penalize the solo player. small groups, maybe even duo's will be better than solo. it's just the nature of the game. (at least in pvp terms)
then the solo players complain. then the devs try to accommodate them. then they can do things they shouldn't. then guilds break up or leave.
(i didn't read all the pages, just a few comments here and there.)

RE: Spell Tomes/Books?
@Gothix said in Spell Tomes/Books?:
If you observe anything, you can never learn from the book as well as you can from "doing it yourself".
So books and scrolls in Fractured should never give full knowledge about certain activity.
If they existed they might give you partial knowledge.
going by that, there could be different tiers of books. there could be a page, could be a chapter or a full book. you could acquire multiple pages and combine them into chapter(s), then into a book. maybe only the book can give you the full spell unlock (with knowledge points).
maybe a page could give you 1 point of the skill. maybe a chapter could give 40 points, while the book gives 200, or whatever the numbers would be. maybe 20 pages makes a chapter and 5 chapters makes a book. this gives the option to the player to learn an individual part or to wait to learn the whole thing.

RE: First Impressions on the new City System
Sounds like the planet should be designed so that there is:
1 capital city
5 (or so) major cities
35 (or so) minor cities
60 (or so) towns
100 villagesthe hard limit could be adjusted over time either with a script or manually.
maybe, the setup above can change as "political boundaries" rise up. maybe there's a wall placed between 2 of major cities and the script or manually, this creates a divide where either side can now have 1 capital city.
maybe an order of conquering can happen so that the villages, towns and minor cities have to be controlled first before the major cities and capital city can be sieged.
think of this like a dartboard. where the outter ring needs to be controlled (and it'd be much easier), then you move to the next closest ring, then further in until you can capture the capital city.

RE: No Hunger & Rest Depletion In Towns.
@Trug said in No Hunger & Rest Depletion In Towns.:
let them pay a small fee to stay at the inn for a game day and get the same benefits.
I like that idea. it gives a reason to visit the inn, it gives a reason to visit cities. it puts a need to upgrade villages into something better.
maybe different levels of the Inn can change how hunger is effected. example:
level1 inn - reduces hunger by 25%
level 2 inn - reduces hunger by 50%
level 3 inn - reduces hunger by 75%
level 4 inn - reduces hunger by 100%in order to get a higher tier Inn the city has to be upgraded and put the level 4 at the highest tier.

RE: Knowledge
steath prevents learning. that change could be enough to make it a risk vs reward.
but honestly why are you playing a [pvp] game and dont want to kill stuff?

RE: Is game worth playing
you going to need to critically think on this one. watch videos and get some time in when there's a free test. then make that decision for yourself.

RE: Winter Alpha Spotlight - Criminal System
Please also note that PvP mode exists only to avoid damaging potential targets accidentally with directional abilities / projectiles and AOE effects. Once you attack someone, your victim will enter PvP mode as well. Whether a player is a potential target or not depends only on your alignment and the other player’s alignment, as explained in the first paragraph of this article.
that's going to piss off a whole bunch of the population when the game is released.
Warcraft had to change their system because AOE was causing a person to flag and was then killed by a person who intentionally flagged for PvP.

RE: Will Steam Early Access available ?
@GamerSeuss said in Will Steam Early Access available ?:
There is a pretty good chance this game won't be a Steam game, I'm thinking.
As the game will be buy once, then no micro-transactions or monthly fees, giving a portion of their revenue over to Steam would be counter-productive for them overall, especially as Steam recipients would expect a discounted experience.so the VIP and cash shop are removed? that's new news to me.

RE: Are there any plans more items coming to the Foundation Store any time soon?
i'd prefer new items for post release. this way they aren't trying to get it all done before release. if they were to put an expected release date for the item then i could understand that as well.

we straight up need UI customization.
