@Helix If I'm not mistaken the plan right now is to avoid that by not really deviding the community into servers, so everyone's playing together on the 9 continents devided between 3 planets.

RE: Hello,
@Thijminecraft02 It really does! It has a lot of promising and progressive ideas for an MMO

RE: Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary
@Yitra This really depends on how you look at it. This probably means that hi en gear will be both very expensive and hard to get as it will be sought after by a lot of people looking to PK a bank item. This makes it worthwhile for both PvMers gathering the drops and skillers processing them. Yes, you have a point: a solo player in their right mind will never risk top tier gear but the large guilds can afford both the items themselves and the sufficient manpower to protect them, which, again, makes the politics and strategy dynamics more complex and interesting.

RE: Server Pop?
@Jetah Imho that's just unrealistic: the audience for these games is not that large. Even with enough marketing fractured won't rake in so many players. Even Old School Runescape which is a blooming established MMO at it's peak only rakes in 140k concurent players max.

RE: High hopes for this game and a hello,
@Mars11 Welcome!
I'd say that your best bet to find new acqyaintances is to go on the official Fractured discord server and start chatting to people there: it allows for real time communication contrary to the forums where you'll have to 1st come up with a topic/find one and 2nd wait a bit before someone responds to you.
Hope to see you around -
RE: Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary
@Tuoni Absolutely! I can relate to that: I've been a solo player for the majority of my experience with Albion and in the beginning the gear fear restricted me in a lot of ways: the constant zerg threat and just generally valuing perhaps a bit too much can severely change, possibly even damage the player experience, but I can't help but feel like the greatest memories and moment's I've had in such games have to do with the risk vs reward philosophy of the full loot system. And on top of that such mechanics provide a much needed item/money sink and, again, just generally shape the economy in a rather interesting maner.
But still we can't really come to a definitive conclusion without getting more info on how the game will actually work: from what I understand PKing randomly might have very undesireble consequenses. -
RE: VIP - Details?
@Tuoni While it is true and the system is fundamentaly broken and works agains player, as long as there is free trade in the game, there will be black markets that are selling in-game gold for irl currency, this is just how it goes unfortunately.

RE: New here and a question
@Claymore1019 Welcome and yes, you can! The only thing you need to participate in the stresstest starting from 28th is an account on the foundation

RE: Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary
@Farlander I don't think they have ever stated that gear progression will be horizontal. Imo this would be just a very boring game as character progression is the very core of the MMO genre. Yes, the character progression is horizontal: the longer you play the more skills and abilities you unlock: this makes you explore a lot of different skill setups along the way. And by saying that "a player right out of creation is as good as a character that has been running around for years" devs really mean that the raw stats of these characters will be comparable. You can always trade your new character a +10 ultra godbane greatsword of fire and it will be as good as if you gave to your oldest character. At least that's how I interpreted the dev posts.

RE: VIP - Details?
@klarens I think it's pretty obvious but yes. In I understand it correctly with VIP you will be getting Dynamight gold rather than the cosmetics themselves, so it would be extremely unreasonable to take that gold away or trace your purchases and roll them back.

RE: Serious FOMO
@voltagebinary Welcome!
Only time will tell but I do believe that Fractured has the potential to "be the one" -
RE: Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary
@Tuoni Yeah if the game design relises solely on the progression being as flat as possible this defeats the very purpose of the MMO ganre. MMOs have never too complicated gameplay wise and in order for a game with a level playing field to be fun and lasting there needs to be something to keep players from leaving: in our case it would be either PvM or PvP. Becasue if everyone's acct the same anyone can craft anything and suddenly skillers no longer exist. If all items are basically equal in value neither PvM nor PvP have any meaning and are fulfilling in any way besides experiencing them. And all that's left is some weird openworld MOBA with a complex social system.
Of course I am going to an extreme here and I really doubt that this could end up actually happening but given the fact that we don't actually know much about the game in the future and how these post from Jacopo may or may not be still up to date with the Dynamight game vision, we can only hope that this doesn't end up in a disaster. ':(
Need to remember to ask about just how horizontal the game progression is going to be the next time around a qna is announced. -
RE: What guild joining restrictions are there?
We already have confirmation from Dynamight that the currect guild rectrictions on the Foundation are merely there because of how it worked ever sinse pre-alpha. They've stated that guild will be multi-racial in-game and we won't have such restrictions there.

RE: New MMO
@Zarezel Welcome, it surely does. However I'd advise against getting too excited as we still have a long way to go until release rolls up

RE: Looting? Pickpocketing? Or Lock picking & Burglary
@Logain I do not believe that the prices would differ much on the "opposite ends" so to speak. Bacuase item A is common on Arb and can't be found on Tar, for example, there is minimal risk in transporting it from Arb to Tar: you wouldn't loose much if you died: after all the supply is too big. This would make a lot of people looking for quick buck run it to every place imaginable just to merch off of the price margin. And if too many people are doing that consistently, the margin will collapse really quickly basically making the item price on Tar just a little higher than on Arb. I just don't see how this would work out unfortunately.
Of course a skill based game sounds good and all that but imho it's not a MOBA battle arena for it to be a universally level playing field. (I am a little oversimplifying and implying that the player skill level also takes into consideration the gear and prep management, I don't think that it's unreasonable here) -
Regional mods
Dear Dynamight,
Will we be getting region specific (as in German/French/Italian/and so on) moderators here and on the discord server? With the game getting some traction and a sudden influx of players I think it would be reasonable to start thinking about hiring or working out a volunteer mod system both for the main english speaking and other local subsections.
And while Specter might be able to manage moding the english part of the community for quite some time, I think it would be best to let the foreign communities moderate themselves in order to avoid the problems that might occur during communication as solving/encountering them will undoubdatly be not as efficient.
And I understand that righ now might be a little too eatly to worry about that, but I think that Dynamight have to start thinking about that at one point or another and in my opinion starting to do so too soon is way better than starting too late. -
RE: Hey, all!
Hello and welcome!
If you want to know more about how the game is envisioned by the developers you should start with checking the earliest articles on the News page of the main website. A lot of info there might be outdated but it's quite an interesting read
But other than that we're looking at a late June to early July closed test so if you have already bough a package with access to Alpha 2 you will get a chance to try out the game for yourself in no time! -
RE: PvE Planet with PvP
Ok if the argument that uncontested resource influx may or may not ruin the economy is received as a token of aggresion/greed/selfishness/generally being a prick and wanting to ruin others fun, then I will just distance myself from this convo. I don't get how all of a sudden I'm the agenda pushing bad guy in this scenario
Caring for the game's future has never been so frowned upon. -
RE: Life Skills?
@Specter @Ostaff I'd say that the thread tags explain his point pretty well: "crafting", "farming" and "fishing" in particular.
And that's an answer the community can't give an answer to so yeah" "at least a bunch but maybe more" would be my take.
