RE: Now think Clearly Here
those body enhancements and the steampunk tech are the most attractive thing about humans in my opinion.

RE: Looking for a guild to join.
Don't join a guild until you get to know a few of the people in them first. It's always the most fun to play with people you like. (I don't recruit for mine, I just steal all of Specter's problem children)
I recommend joining the discord as well as being active in the forums. I prefer discord as you can actually chat with people. It's been relatively quiet lately, but you do get a good feel for people there, more so than here.
But definitely pick out people who you like, you can click "follow" on their profile so that when they post, it notifies you. That way if someone seems to have a decent head on their shoulders, you can find out what guild they're in, and then look at posts from other guild mates and see if it's a good fit.
Ideally, people will find good people that they like. Sadly, until the game actually starts, you're not going to know if they're going to be fun people to actually play with too. So if you do pick one now, don't be afraid to guild hop later if it turns out once the game starts to be a bad fit.

RE: Losing interest...
@FibS yes, it's early days still, but that's part of the excitement here, and you need to stick around for that.
I've said it before, if you've ever played a game that you loved, and want that again, then you've got to fall in love and see this one through, you know like I do, that the concept and scope of this game if brought to vision, will be that game. You said you've dreamed about it!
So, the crowdfunding thing... I too don't like spending a lot of money on a game... but for the past 7 years I have been looking for a game to fall in love with like I'm hoping to here. I've played a bunch of other games (and am playing some now, one is pay to win and I've spent far more than is sensible on the little entertainment and zero love I have for that game.) but nothing has come close, not even close, to games I have loved in the past. And I mean LOVED.
At least not multiplayer ones, and that's the thing here that has me so excited, I can go play a single player game at any time, but for multiplayer, there just hasn't been a game that appeals to so many different play styles while still promising that mmo experience I like, that I think it'll mean I can bring a lot of my gaming friends to it to play with. Just the sheer scope of this game, you've gotta stick around to see it happen!
I don't know what you see in it, if it's the same thing I do, but what I see in it has had me stick around quietly waiting for the KS. I put in more money for this game than I have at the start of others, and did go for governor over immortal just for that starting town, because I have guildies, and to me it's worth spending a little bit extra for them. Sure I get a cool new skin for my horse, and probably cool armour and get to have an emerald badge and a different looking house... but really, the benefit of governor isn't for me, it's for the people I'm trying to entice to the game. I've spent a few thousand in one of our other games already, by the time the game would roll around here, I'd already have spent another few thousand.
I'd seriously kick myself if all I did was buy a beta and they ended up failing for lack of funds, and where I can afford this and you can't, it would be wrong of me to just buy a lesser pack. (really wish I could pledge more even)
So you don't get into the alpha, so what? The alpha hopefully will be a series of test runs where they have players running around testing different things to make sure it works and to make sure it's balanced. If you've never done testing before, alpha is when you go in to test parts of the game, generally most of the features are not even ready yet. You may be able to test one race, skins may not work, you may not have any pvp in the first tests, maybe just exploration. Key components may not have been added... but during alpha there are updates and things get put in bit by bit, but the thing to remember is it's not a complete game yet.
You really dont want to "play" alpha without realising this. Yes, people go into the alphas looking for things to break. Some want to break it to exploit it for their own gain, some are griefers and some want to make sure the game works well. But not being in alpha should not be the be all and end all of what excitement you get. I can bet that we won't even have all the feature spotlights out when they open it here. I can bet that many of the core features of Fractured won't be implemented at the start. It's possibly that world restriction happens in each test phase, with no travel between planets.
So don't fret. If they open up an alpha section of the forum, then players will share in there. I know several plan to stream, I may as well (haven't decided if I'll do public or private) but once the players are allowed to share, then they will.
But this game, leave out the crowdfunding, pretend the alpha hasn't been announced yet. Just look at the features and scope, look at the story here for it (and devs you need to introduce the lore of the planet a thousand fold more than you have) but don't walk away from this one.
It could be that one true love you've been waiting for.

you forgot to add "undecided" "that's a secret" and "more than one of the above"

RE: July 3rd Survival & Travel Q&A: List Your Questions
- Will human tech allow them to build their own mounts? (mechanical spider please)
- Will travel to asteroids be on the same system as travel to planets, or will players be able to discover a magical skill or build some tech to travel there?
- Will travel to other planets be on a timing system, where you cannot open a portal outside of a particular window?
- Will there be any poisonous food, or perhaps food that is poisonous to one race, but not to another?

RE: Bit worried where the Kickstarter is
A really good article, and some good comments that might make a few people a little more secure, specifically with regards to the financial status of the game, and what the kickstarter is actually being used for:
-
RE: What do you think about the humans?
more info doesn't mean, we want to reread what we already know.
I want more.
-
RE: What do you think about the humans?
Yeah, I really am looking forward to the spotlight that tells us about the human tech. Will there be a mechanical spider mount? (please!) They say we'll be able to alter the humans with tech, so can we turn them into steampunk cyborgs? I can't wait to find out just how much the tech will change the human race, it's the one thing that just MIGHT make me go human.

RE: Bit worried where the Kickstarter is
Ever play a kick ass game that you lost, cause they just didn't make enough money to keep it going? I have.
Ever wish they funded the game differently cause you would have played that game forever? Ever wish the game had more money to advertise more so they could get more people to play it to keep it viable even with it's failed monetization? I have.
Ever follow a game from one publisher to another, and then another because that game was just so flipping cool, that it had to keep existing, and when it failed anyway for lack of funding, it broke your heart.
Yeah..
Fractured is one of those games that needs to be made. I NEED to play this game. I NEED them to succeed.
So I see the kickstarter, and worry... do they have enough money, will the kickstarter fail, is it too early, did they screw this up... Maybe? But if you haven't put money into this to back it, then who's at fault here really?
Game won't be in beta for another year and a half, or more. If the kickstarter fails, they have other venues to find more money, including continuing to gather on here, but we really don't want to see it fail.
I see a lot of people sitting on the fence, waiting to see how the fundraising goes. I have my own recruits who haven't put money in yet waiting for alpha footage, or until they can already pay in to start playing, who won't put money into a fundraising to get the game started.
But I think back to awesome game or games, that just didn't work because they didn't have enough money... and I count what I spend per month on gaming now, and put it out to what my kickstarter pledge is going to cost me per month between now and when the game opens.
I want this game to work out, I can afford to buy a pledge on my credit card that's bigger than the game alone will cost in open beta, I can afford to take time to pay that off and counter it against the months it's going to take in development here in order to get it to work.
I can support the game now in the pledges and then in development so that what I see in it, and those of you here in the forum before the kickstarter launch also must see in it, will come to exist, so I can play it. So the people waiting, they know there's always another game coming out, there's always games that fail, but do they really ask themselves about that one game that they really wished they could still play, or could have played? I do.
This is one of those games for me. It looks on the surface like it's going to have so much content and scope to the game that it'll be fun to play for years. It's been a long time that a game, and not my gaming friends, has held my interest for long term. I think this one might be able to, and if I can help them by pledging now instead of taking a wait and see attitude, I will. And I have.
Kickstarter is not a great place to fundraise when it comes to a game that isn't already set for alpha. If it's early, they can relaunch. If it fails, they have other avenues. What they need though, is a fanbase that will rally around and put money up when they need it. What's a great game worth to you?
Yeah there's things I think they can do better. They need to push out a few more spotlights, they should have recently before the kickstarter to keep the hype up for the members here who are actually into playing. I joined in September, but the lack of updates had my interest wane BIG time. I kept following, on the discord seeing when there was any news, but I really spent a good six months not even ON the forums.
So yeah, they have to do their part too, but for us? If you're on the fence and want the game made, pledge.
