If I see some nice PvP action going on, I will make sure I walk in the opposite direction.

Sure looks interesting to become a Lich.

RE: Lost ARK OBT
I don't speak Korean, so I would end up not knowing what's going on at all.
So I will play the wait game and wait for the EU release. -
RE: How is the Development Team going to solve...
Good graphics alone doesn't make a good game by itself. If there is crap gameplay, and little content to do, then the game is not going to be a success.
I'd rather play a game that has great story, good gameplay and a lot to do while having less pretty graphics. -
RE: How is the Development Team going to solve...
All developers have the same problem.
It easily takes 3-4 years to make a big game.
But because all developers have the same issue, the games they make are not old on release just because there is a newer engine version.
If you want to upgrade your game during development for the newest engine out there, you end up never releasing the game.
So just choose an engine that is best suitable to what you want to do and roll with it.I never heard someone say they refuse to play a good and fun game, because it was running on an old engine.

Do you want the real deal or the cheap knockoff?
As developer I would still choose Steam as platform to sell on, simply because of the much larger user count.
Yeah, I would make less money per sale, but that is balanced by the amount of extra sales I get by selling on Steam.Discord is boasting 200m users. Not to mention the included games with Nitro.
They have more users perhaps, but most of them are only there for the communication tools, while all the users on Steam are purely there to buy games. It's quite a different market.
I personally haven't even looked at the discord store to be honest. -
RE: Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?
Animation cancelling is seriously a feature in games? I always thought it was an exploit...

RE: Heroes of the Storm has apparently entered a death spiral
HotS was a good game, but I think they got to the MOBA party too late and just couldn't compete with LoL and DOTA2 in the end. And Activision probably pulled the plug for the game as it wasn't making enough money.

RE: Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?
Still think animation cancelling is just poor game design.
Why not have have have the animations be sort of charge bar. So if you complete full animation you do 100% of the damage potential. But if you cancel it halfway through, you will only do 50% of the damage potential. -
RE: Random Thoughts
Why don't vampires burn from moonlight? After all the moon doesn't shine, it's just reflecting sunlight.

RE: Will Animation Cancelling become a combat mechanic one day?
Or just make it so animations can not be cancelled. You will have to wait for the animation to finish before you can use another skill or move (unless it's a skill that specifically mentions it can be used while moving).
This solves the problems and adds another strategic element to know if it's a good time to cast a longer animation spell or if it's a better idea to cast one with a smaller animation. -

RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus
@roccandil said in Preventing Bots in Arboreus:
If I ever design a game, I've decided I'll do everything I can to balance it around the mechanic that player's toons are -always- skilling up, regardless of whether or not the players are actually on, and thus organically bypass the bot issue.
So you mean something like EVE-Online uses. Where you train skills even when you are not online?
Something like that would be nice. -
RE: Preventing Bots in Arboreus
The biggest problem is that a lot of bot preventing measures don't really work all that well, and are usually just annoying for the legitimate players.
