Discord API

I’m wondering if Fractured will use Discord’s API to create Rich Presence?
Rich Presence allows chat to be simultaneously on Discord and in game. It also allows users to join a party directly from Discord. It can state where the player is, although I’d love for this to be optional.
We can use Discord as an in game voice chat also. This removes the need to develop an in house version.

@jetah I think when the game active Guild themselves will lead the group in Discord and will not sit in the rooms of the game. Chat votes can be added by pressing a button inside the game, as has been implemented in many games. This will simplify the communication between players.

And if a voice chat is in the game, then it will be necessary to make sure that when people talk their characters open their mouths

If I'm not mistaken, the mechanics that you propose to do was implemented in the Smith game using Curse. But there it is work for your team, those are a maximum of 5 people in each new match

I have never been a fan of discord. I have it, been forced to use it, still hate it.
-
not all games have in game chat and out of game chat, the Discord API can do that. I'd rather not see animation for voice chat in game, those resources should be spent elsewhere. Odd are you wont even notice the mouths moving.
what do you hate/dislike about discord?

@jetah This is purely for "realism"

Still isn’t worth the expense.

Just had issues with security in the past. Never seriously liked the UI and that is just me. People must like it, most game developers use it almost exclusively to talk to their player base. It makes me sad, AoC made me lose interest when they started using it exclusively and crapped on their forum users.

Discord has been up for about 2 years, so i'm not sure what security issues you had. I'm curious but if you don't want to talk about it, that's fine.
Yes, developers are using it because it's faster way to tell players about things happening and it's free! (at least I believe so for developers). It's a great way to get the community together and interacting with each other without needing to hit F5 on a forum.
Fractured also has a server on Discord. https://fracturedmmo.com/discord

@jetah About Discord as in game feature chat/voice could be intresting if the acount will have associate restrinction like 1 account-link per month. I mean that users will be allow to change the Fractured-Discord accounts association just one per month.
I would more interested in API for discord BOTS that provides info about server status/ingame stats. Like for markets/guild things and so on.

it's usually setup so that the game uses a new voice channel usually similar to a private message for the group. I'm not sure how the text chat works. but I'd assume that anytime you change your character or name it'd change in discord.
