Hiting stag's while they eat prevent them from running

It seems that when I hit the stags while they are with the eating animation playing they wont run, even after animation is end.

Offtopic, but to be fair, I probably wouldn't run either if I'd be attacked while enjoying some pizza. So, as far as I'm concerned, what those deer do is reasonable enough.
