can't memorise my skills or talents in a tavern

don't know why this is happening. can't use bow skills with a bow. can't use net trap on a horse in an open field i am right next to... and now this:
And no, i didn't make a campfire inside the tavern. Am i having these issues because my character isn't compatible with the latest version anymore? Do I need to start my knowledge progress from nothing again after scouting the entire map and getting 100% on almost every enemy?

I tried again and it worked... apparently you can get up from the fireplace with the menu still open... meaning you aren't resting at the fire... but the menus stay open anyways.
