Wagon Overtaken

I was farming some wood earlier and a red player was able to overtake my wagon. I dont think he intended to steal it as he was cicrleing around me. This person is not in friends list, and i still have new player status up. is this an intended mechanic in the game?

Reds can steal carts, that is normal.
Having the young player protection protects you from them, but does not protect your cart.
