I wouldn't be surprised if the only choices were skin/fur colour and hair/horn style.

RE: Is the game ready to download and play?
@beetmymeet said in Is the game ready to download and play?:
@ember2528 wait whoa so it isn't even going to be free to play? Fuck this
Thank you for showing exactly the reason why I'm glad the game won't be free.

RE: Dungeons
They will except on Arboreus, there won't be much PvP going on there in general.
Damn, I miss the original TSW. It hasn't aged well.
-
RE: What We Know About Weapons
I doubt it, that would be unbalanced. But since for example demons are more resistant to heat, fire-enchanted weapons will be more effective against humans in comparison.
-
RE: Dungeons
Nah, that won't be a thing. Humans will be humans, no matter what they do. That's the whole point of their complete freedom, no matter what, they'll always be just human.

RE: Comparison to EVE?
Something tells me @Finland is a Sith Lord; after all, only a Sith deals in absolutes.

RE: Are there any unknown / unused professions
There will be alchemy, but it will deal with transforming materials, not herbs and poisons apparently. Or maybe it will do both. Who knows.
To quote the Skills spotlight:
... practitioners of alchemy can apply the powers of Alteration to crafting whenever they attempt to generate rare materials and components from common resources.

RE: Are there any unknown / unused professions
Chef, carriage driver, scout, hunter, farmer, bounty hunter, transporter (portal mage), enchanter, bard, thief... So many possibilities.

RE: An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?
A short summary:
- Gear matters. Light armour offers less protection than heavy armour, which is heavier and less maneuverable, etc.
- Different types of weapons have different speed, weight etc.
- That being said, all gear is equal. There will be some weapons and armour that are better for certain situations, but none that are better overall.
- Different types of gear will make a big difference in the survival aspect, much less so than in combat.

RE: An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?
Finland: A demonic warrior of justice, running around naked on Tartaros, killing evil-doers to earn angel wings.
I'd watch that movie.

And so we're back to,
@nelchael said in An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?:
I'm assuming the difference will be in something like durability or weight. Something that doesn't affect combat, but still makes a difference in overall gameplay.
"situational" is probably the best single word to describe it, yes.

RE: An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?
There will be armour types, something like light-medium-heavy. But again, all light armours will be equal, etc.
-
RE: An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?
Well, just because all gear is equal doesn't mean all gear is the same. Maybe there will be a sword that's longer with more reach but takes more time to swing, a different sword with a shorter blade that's faster, another one that fits somewhere in between, and so on.

RE: Becomming an Angel or Abommination
It does have some influence, for example it's been said that hellfire demons are more resistant to heat, shadow demons are better at stealth, etc. I'm actually really curious as to whether those passives will disappear with the angel transformation or not.
A unique skin called Indecisive Irma. It looks just like the default demon skin. The devs were going to make it look unique, but they couldn't decide on a design for it.

RE: What We Know About Weapons
There's more to this game than just combat. Maybe a new player with better skill is better than you at fighting, but with more resources as an older player, you will be a lot better at surviving. You'll be able to travel further, faster, and to different environments with much less effort.

RE: An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?
... That's exactly what I just said.

RE: An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?
Which is exactly why I'd rather have completely different, new weapons (everyone picks what looks better for them), rather than many tiers of the same weapon (everyone goes for the top tier).

RE: An MMO Free of Levels and Classes?
I guess everyone's different. I personally prefer a large variety in equipment types, since it lets me mix and match them to make a unique look for myself. I hate wearing exactly the same outfit as five thousand other people, which is partly the reason why I dislike MOBAs. In my opinion individuality is important in an MMO, especially a sandbox.
