@muker This is not a demo. You don't get a key, but you get possibility to download full, DRM free game.
The time limit is only to download it. After it runs out, download links will not be active. But still you can play it for as long as you like. You just have to keep the installation files on your HDD.
I agree with @tulukaruk and @Jairone . 30 seconds timer is enough for preventing escaping from fight or danger by logging off. And also viable for account switching. A full minute is in my opinion already too long.
The timers could be shorter or disabled when the character is in safe spot or while resting by campfire (the moment when you can change your skills). This would also prove to be good while logging off in wilderness.
And keep in mind, when doing a standard log off (not mentioning the disconnection due to power or internet problems), the player sees his/her character while the timer is counting down 30 seconds. So if anyone approaches or tries to attack you, you have a chance to react.
Having to observe your character standing still and doing nothing for 30 minutes till the counter goes down would be a horrible, horrible idea.

@gothix
Definitely! All kinds of weapons, armors and even potions and meals.
For example, a healing potion name: "Dr Trixs' cure to all"We have gone too far, we have dug too deep!

All players should be "forced to" PvX if they want to max out their possibilities.
Players that only do PvP or that only do PvE should be at disadvantage compared to players that do full PvX.
What you wanna do is your choice, but player that "does" more than you should "have" more than you (in all aspects)
Remember about Beastmen - in their case PvP will be vey small part of the world if present at all...
I think that Lich should be similar to Angel and Abomination. Do not look at the skills - those are driven by schools of magic/combat you use.
I would see it like this:
Demon turned good -> Angel (Demon that lives on the beast planet - Arobreus)
Beast turned bad -> Abomination (Beast that lives on the demon planet - Tartaros)
Human turned bad -> Lich (Human that lives on the demon planet - Tartaros)
Human turned good -> Saint/Druid (Human that lives on the beast planet - Arobreus)

Wow, they're actually making sure you're going to play the game.
You do not have to really play it. It can be left on first in-game menu. You know: New Game, Options, etc.
But yes, they make sure you download it and at least run it for a while
@Gothix
Yes, I get it, but you mentioned that "Players that only do PvP or that only do PvE should be at disadvantage compared to players that do full PvX."
The thing: is planet travel is supposed to be hard, at least except eclipses of Tartaros and Syndesia. In which Arboreus does not take part. I think in case of Beastmen planet travel will be more of an end-game thing. So it would seem that Beastmen will be at disadvantage till very late in the game.
I agree, that people that take Beastmen as their character will do it with full knowledge what comes with it. Still, this disadvantage that you mentioned should not be a strong one.
I guess some access to skills and knowledge should be based on PVP, so if you want to master every skill, you should dabble in a lot of different activities, but it shouldn't be something that would hinder your game.
In most cases it would be enough if skills could be unlocked either way - by PvP or by PvE, or by traveling and exploring. Maybe a difference in effort that have to be put into unlocking could be varied. For example a combat skill could be easier to unlock by PvP and would require much more effort to do it by PvE only.
@Dulu said in The Lich vs. the Angel and Abomination:
Morality is objective. It takes religion to force people to make certain things that are immoral seem moral.
I wouldn't put it all on religion. More on socially accepted behaviour in a group of people we currently reside.
If you are raised by cannibals, then you won't see anything bad in eating humans. This is not religion.
As @Gothix stated above - I agree. Even now there are different moral standards in different countries. For example in Europe and US a research and experimentation on stem cells or dead fetuses is frowned upon, but in China such research is additionally funded by their government.
@dulu said in The Lich vs. the Angel and Abomination:
@dybuk I think there needs to be another option for Humans "turning evil", and Lich doesn't fit.
Why not? For me Lich is an undead creature, that usually dabbles in some dark arts and I would not perceive him/her as a boy- /girl- scout. In my opinion Liches are evil But maybe you are right - Liches are too genre specific. It would be hard to imagine a Lich using Restoration school of magic.
"Forsaken", "Damned", "Sinner" - there is a lot of names that can be used

I have more and more feelings that you these OPEN WEEKENDS are not needed
Well, I guess we can create a separate topic for open weekends...
I hope they will allow you to design your home layout. Setting up walls as you like it, putting doors in places you want to and even creating hidden rooms
It would be also great if a governor could plan a city layout. Point where should the streets go and where are the different districts.
Well, it would be good if the mines would have many levels. The deeper you get, the more rare ore you can mine, but also the more dangerous monsters you encounter.
The prestige of town could influence the possibility to access each level. The village would have access only to first 2 levels with two types of basic ore and increased amount of easier to kill monsters, while a full fledged town will have access to levels 1-6 (for example), each becoming more and more dangerous.
This way:
a) prestige of town controls the quality of the ore that is available
b) towns have a little bit easier way of mining basic ore (less amount of monster spawns on first levels)
c) rare ore is not easy to grind, will require team-work and taking risks

Even though I have barely played the game this year due to Real Life
Hmm... Real Life, I did not hear anything about this game
To be true I have never played HotS. After your post I think I will look into it, hope I'm not too late and the game will still exist.
@logain said in lost my little dear key :
more 'boring, trying to come up with every way of breaking the game, then trying to reproduce an error, writing a detailed report and possibly even going through log files'.
I do not have any problem with this
I would like to see traps, puzzles, need of cooperation (for example stand on 4 spots at the same time to open the door to next chamber).
I hope that dungeons won't be just "move forward -> kill everything -> repeat". That it will require a bit of planning, preparation and dedication. Not just mindless button spamming.
Hi All,
You can get: Distraint Deluxe edition on GoG for free for the next 23 hours
Exactly as @Target said. Turning into an Angel will not be an easy deed. To become one you have to show your faith and dedication for one of the gods with good alignment. This alone makes Angels to be quite a zealots - they are unable to even think about commiting a sin
Of course a sin in the eyes of their god. I do not mean bad language or bad behavior.
@Prometheus
A few questions right from the top of my head:
It was not mentioned anywhere - can a player have two homes? One in a city and one outside, int free lands?
Of course the costs of maintaining both at the same time may be high enough that it will not be reasonable, but is it still possible?
If yes, how does the NPC Carpenter contract apply? Does he take care of both houses, or maybe we can designate him to work only in one?
If yes, can a man become a Governor in two different cities at the same time?
Can a Guild control more then one city?
