Communication between the worlds

Will there or should there be communication between the different worlds, without actually travelling between them of course. What if you and your friend are on different worlds and wish to communicate with one another?

Of course. I can't remember seeing any MMO where private chat over long distance wasn't possible.
Additionally all the standard "stuff" will be available, like party chat and guild chat.

I could go either way from a game perspective, but, in reality, it won't matter since apps like Discord are so prevalent.

I remember in UO we had to use stuff like ICQ. The only chat was spatial local chat. There was no global chat. It's so much nicer using programs like Discord. Alot of games now incorporate official servers when you login. Our community usually has its own. I try to avoid chat channels myself. Having to type gets you killed lol.

With a little bit of awareness, you can choose when not to type.
For example when huge bear is looking at you and saying "grrrr"...

YUSS!! show your prowess and nothing will stop you!! type and slay that bear at the same time!! intimidation is an extremely viable tactic

I think the real question would be
How do you stop communication between other worlds?Since you obviously can't stop people communicating when they are playing on different worlds, it only makes sense to make this fun.
So despite the devs having not said anything about how they are going to do this, i'm sure there will be at least different key channels for players to communicate in.What will be interesting to see is how the devs go about about implementing all the chats that normally get spammed. (Trade, LFG, Guild, ETC)
Hopefully they implement features that make it easy to to pick out what people are looking for in all the spam. (like coloured text representing what roll you play)

Having to "learn" the other languages would be cool
As long as its not forced on the player to actually "learn" them.
That would just make people quit

I think the most you can hope for is a global channel which only applies to the world you are playing in.
Like in the current Alpha 1 and I hope you will get filter options to sort out all kind of unnecessary stuff.
But you should be able to chat with friends on your friendlist and your own guild regardless of the distance.
As kellewic said Discord will be used also so there will be ways to organize things outside from the game.

i dont think that would be very viable... would be frustrating to go and learn another species language... only to have the person you end up communicating with not speaking the same language as u do in reality... learn a language to not understand someone anyways. lol.
unleas the devs do dedicated servers for specific languages... who knows...

It's not completely unrealistic, another indie game currently in development is aiming to do exactly that. I doubt Fractured is going to, but I wanted to point out that it's far from unrealistic.

There is not much-known lore-wise (which is an aspect I miss or what we will have to create for ourselves), all 3 races were once part of 1 world Elysium. It would depend on how long ago The Fracture would have happened. If the language would differ that much and if they had the need for 3 different languages at the time of being one world.

I actually hope we will see only local chats, which are restricted to continents or even smaller area. And now I am talking about general chats and not guild, party or private chat options.

Earth is one world even landmasses not separated by water can speak diffrent languages
And I was thinking 3 languages so once you learn demon beast and human you know all 3,
Maybe like final fantasy 10, collect artifacts from the fracture, learning and translating 1 alphabet until the words they speak make sence
