πŸ’‘ Suggestion | In game | Combat recount meter

  • TF#6 - Diplomat

Hi everyone I don't know if someone else talked about it before but I would like to. The title speaks for itself, I was wodering if a feature like that had already been taken into consideration or if it's already active in the game.

    What am I talking about?
A modular damage meter feature with various viewing modes, segmented fights and customizable windows. Highly efficient with memory and CPU.

A feature to monitorize in real time the combat statistic of your party/raid group or solo, something like:

    • Damage done
    • Damage taken
    • Healing done
    • Healing taken
    • Shilding
    • Overhealing
    • Debuff uptime
    • Buff uptime
    • Mitigation

An opion to check details for each one of the players in the list, by showing for example:

    • Healing -> List of all healing spell used in that fight by that guy sorted by Max to min

An option to check details like:

    • Max crit damage
    • Crit %
    • Max non crit damage
    • Dodge counter
    • Dodge %
    • Parry counter
    • Parry %
    • and so on..

As theroycrafter/hard core player I always want feature like this to monitorize my guild mate and maximize/improve the combat experience.

    Nope I don’t want it.

People will require certain builds because they do certain amount of damage.

  • TF#6 - Diplomat

@jetah that's the point! maximize it. How can you check if a build is viable or not?

That's the only way. To check slackers during fights. It's hard to point out who failed in a teamfight. Also MOBA got recouts It's a must for competitive players. All serious MMO got it.

HoTS doesn't have recount. WoW has it and it's utter trash. Recount is a PvE metric which isn't necessary in a PvP game. Recount is great for checking to see if the raid group has the damage for a raid boss dps check but outside of that it's useless and cripples build diversity.

Some ideas are good but wait till there's a game to see if it'd fit.

@jetah lol, hots like dota got a recount. OW too showing less info but it's still a recount - damage done - healing done - shielding - damage taken.

For pvp is important like/equal to pve. When i play a moba with friends i tell hem to bring the top meta heroes. Ow/paladins is the same. In competitive you never play the hero you want but you play the most powerfull. Is the same on MMO where you bring players with the most op class, then you filter for gear in the end you filter for skill. You need a recount to check statistics. It's a must for pro players who cares to play as best with the best players around. Also needed for guilds to don't waste time on recruit the wrong player.

are you saying MMO's can be competitive? You said in another post that MMO's aren't competitive. So which is it?

  • TF#6 - Diplomat

@jetah battlegrounds are competitive! Arena too! I said that.. high difficult raid/boss/dungeons too. You said that for you is also open pvp so you should accept what I said up there .

So open pvp is not competitive by me! But I want the best for everything anyway, competitive or not ;).

you said you want damage numbers because MMOs are competitive.

    I said I don't want them.

  • TF#6 - Diplomat

@jetah I have not said it.

By the way do you play any real competitive game with any sort of damage meter?

  • TF#7 - Ambassador

How about a combat log? It won't measure dps but it still gives a lot of useful information.

that says you play an mmo with recount which you also say is for competitive games. this means you believe mmos are competitive which is not what you said in the other post 2 days ago.

that aside. rift and wow are the only games with dps meters. Eve, daoc, uo didn't have it when I played.

@Vengu problem is people can actively parse the combat log to get a real look at the dps numbers.

I will say having combat logs are good for testing! but pvp games do not need dps meters.

Do not piss me off. Do not think you're right when you're wrong. MMO content is big and I have specified several times what are competitive for me.

UO and DAOC are too old! Please don't shout super mario. EvE is hummm dunno a space ship something. Dunno why does not have a recount prolly you don t have spells and buffs there?

For zerg you don't need it right. But for 5v5 for example it's important. If you need to choose 5 players you need a recount.

Eve has leadership buffs, shield, armor, hull transfers (think healer), plus all of the EW warfare but no need for damage meters because you either live or die. there isn't a phase change that your raid needs to dps through. even if you're fighting NPCs, you either kill them or they kill you. if you lose the ship and mods, no big deal you buy new ones.

you choose the player not the character. I don't see this game, as currently advertised, needing a dps meter. you'll either kill or die, you might have the ability to run/escape.

I play overwatch and I don't pick META heroes. I don't follow the OWL (overwatch professional league) and pick what they pick. I'm picking Mei, the ice queen, and am doing well because the players at my level can't deal with her. but because they've seen OWL pick ana or zenyata they play them.

  • TF#6 - Diplomat

@jetah maybe some ships are better than others? Is it just a zerg of ships?

About OW you are free to play what you like but heroes are not balanced some are way better that's why nerfs happen. If you play any moba not all heroes ar good usually the most funny are the worst.

  • TF#4 - EMISSARY

    @finland

there are, I'm going to guess, 15 classes of ships. Each can be useful in combat aside from the industrial and mining ships. many have bonuses to certain mechanics/systems but can still win or lose to any other ship. Only exception might be the Titan but it can still be energy drained and EW'd.

  • TF#6 - Diplomat

@jetah the most difficult thing is to balance heroes in MOBA and classes in MMO, wondering how they balanced all ships. Like 1v1 or 3v3 can you really go with a random setup?
