Invalid character in names

If you enter an invalid character in a name (like an apostrophe), it allows you to continue to the next screen where you choose your spawn location; however, you cannot continue past there (with no notification of why). If you hit back to return to the character screen, an error message pops up indicating that there was an invalid character in the name; however, it does not allow you get rid of the error pop up. I was forced to kill the game from Task Manager and then start creating the character again.
